Wow, another great day on Santee Cooper. Caught several nice blue cats in 40 feet of water and then moved to the Diversion Canal for some striper action. Gotta love winter time fishing. Shad, herring and menhaden are starting to lose energy as the water cools, which puts the big cats and stripers in feeding mode, big time! Look for the big blue cats to be on the deep end of the lake, from channel marker 10 all the way to the Pinopolis Dam. Look for them on your sonar unit, and after locating them drift over them with cut gizzard shad. As the menhaden migrate toward the lower end of Lake Moultrie on their way back to the Atlantic Ocean, the fish will be right behind them. Crappie and bream are still biting well on deep brush, and bass may be caught in five to seven feet of water around open water vegetation.
