Fishing Report Oct 7th 2014

The stripers are schooling like crazy! Especially in the afternoon, out in front of Bonneau and also out in front of the hatchery. If you can find them schooling in water 5 to 10 feet deep, you can get some really nice fish. There were several keepers caught this week, and I know of several others that have been caught this week. I caught a couple myself, they are now in my belly and boy they were good.

Water temperature is still cooling, now around 76°. Some nice largemouth bass being caught around gator grass. The crappie fishing on brush piles is amazing. All you need to do is put out some Wax Myrtle Bushes weighted down with concrete blocks, and know how to find them again. You will catch the most giant crappie out of Santee Cooper that you have ever seen in your life. T

Here is a great tournament on the Santee Cooper Lakes this weekend, the Carolina Crappie Association is hosting it. http://carolinacrappieassociation.webnode.com//

The bream are tearing it up in shallow water, as well as on brush piles. You can catch them on the edges of the canal right now, too.
